Reconstruction ( 1860's - 1880's) - This was a time period when blacks and whites were trying to integrate right after the civil war, blacks were trying to enforce the 3 new amendments that had been passed by the government on the white people.
Jim Crow Law ( 1875 - 1965 ) - Jim Crow Law was a state law in the south that separated White and African American people in the states of the south and was ended after almost a century after it was started
Amendment 13 ( 1865 ) - Amendment 13 was a law that ended slavery and made it illegal to have slaves.
Amendment 14 ( 1868 ) - This amendment was to enforce amendment 13,15. This amendment assured that no state law shall take away any rights from any person.
Amendment 15 ( 1870 ) - This amendment was the right to vote, and that can not be taken away according to race , sexuality , color or previous condition of servitude.
Plessy versus Ferguson (1896) - Plessy Versus Ferguson was a court case in the supreme court for "Separate is not equal" but in the end it was down to 7 votes to 1 vote, the outcome of the decision was " Separate but equal " is fair.
Brown Versus Board ( 1954 ) - This was the greatest success of NAACP, National Association For Advanced Colored People; Brown versus Board was a law case which continued what Plessy Versus Ferguson failed to do which was to state "separate is not equal" , but this time it was 9 - 0 votes and the outcome was "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal."Amendment 14 ( 1868 ) - This amendment was to enforce amendment 13,15. This amendment assured that no state law shall take away any rights from any person.

Children's march ( 1963) - This event took place in the south where African American children/students from all over the United States went to March and decide to all go to jail as a boycott protest for segregation.
can you be more specific please, because some of the stuffs that you listed aren't even events.
ReplyDeleteKevin, I think it's okay to have eras or periods of time, like the "Jim Crow South" on the timeline. However, I think you do need to be more specific.
